| Cant Stand This | Life is full of ups and downs and a little bit of unexpected circumstances. Let me tell you how my story begins, I am Molly but my friends call me Danielle. About 5 years ago, I was on a trip to a town outside the town where I lived, to carry out some research. All of a sudden, the plane started plummeting and before I knew what was happening, it crashed into a river. Immediately, I hit my head and lost consciousness and I didn’t know anything that happened after that, until I woke up two days later. As it appeared, I was the only survivor of the plane crash and I got entangled in a small bush where a fisherman who happened to be fishing nearby, saw me and rescued me. Just before my accident, I was married and I had 3 kids. My husband was a doctor and we had a happy life. I had some wonderful friends who made life fun and worthwhile. Some of them were my co-workers and some were my childhood friends who have been with me through and thin. When I regained consciousness after the crash, I found myself in a room that was not familiar at all. I questioned my caregiver, who was an elderly woman in her fifties. She told me about how I was rescued by the fisherman and that I was currently in a doctor’s house. I didn’t remember anything prior to the accident, not even my name or my contact address. Everything was blank. I couldn’t believe my condition. After spending about a month in the doctor’s house, with the hope that someone will show up and recognise me, I came to the conclusion that I was probably too far away from home. The painful part was that I was stranded and penniless, with no form of identification and no job. Since I had no certificate or any means to show that I have a formal education, I only got a job as a waitress in a small restaurant. The owner was very nice and she even gave me accommodation in a small room, at the back of the restaurant. After working in the restaurant for about six months, I knew most of the people who came into the place to eat and I have become friends with a couple of people. One of them was Daniel, a writer, who comes into the restaurant on Wednesdays and Fridays and sits by a window where he writes until evening time. Over time, we became closer and one day, he expressed his feelings to me and since I shared the same feelings, we started dating. After two years, he proposed to me and we got married. One day, 3 years after marriage, Daniel came home and suggested a road trip to another town, far from home. I agreed and the following day, we were already on our way. After spending four days on the road, we arrived at our destination. The moment I entered the town, I started having flashes of past memories. At first I dismissed the memories but when I passed by a white painted bungalow, I couldn’t ignore the memories anymore. I saw some children playing outside and when one of them spotted me and screamed “mom”, I was taken aback. A man who looked like he was in his forties approached me and called me “Danielle”. All at once, I was flooded with memories that I had long lost and I started crying and shaking, all over. Few days later, after having a conversation with both my old husband and my new husband, I came to the conclusion that I needed some time to think and sort my feelings out. I couldn’t believe the mess I have found myself. Now, I have to choose between my old family and my new family. What do you think about my story?
